Udupi Cochin Shipyard Orders Eight Newbuilds to Be Outfitted by Maritime Montering

Maritime Montering has secured a contract to deliver turnkey accommodation and HVAC systems for eight 6,300 DWT dry cargo vessels being built for Wilson ASA at Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL).

Each vessel will include about 450 square meters of accommodation for ten crew members, designed and outfitted to meet high standards of comfort, safety, and efficiency. The scope covers complete interior accommodation and HVAC installation under Maritime Montering’s turnkey delivery model.

The project will be executed jointly by Maritime Montering India (Marinor) and Maritime Montering Romania, combining engineering, production, and installation expertise from across the group.

“This collaboration shows the strength of our global team –  combining local presence with international competence to deliver consistent quality in ship interiors,” said Viorel Banceanu, General Manager, Maritime Montering Romania.

This order follows six earlier Wilson vessels built at the Udupi yard and outfitted by Maritime Montering. Based on the quality demonstrated in that series, Wilson ASA directly nominated Maritime Montering for this next project.

“We are pleased to continue our cooperation with Udupi Cochin Shipyard and Wilson ASA. This nomination reflects the trust built through our previous work and our commitment to supporting shipbuilding in India,” said Uday Natu, CEO of Maritime Montering India.

The 6,300 DWT vessels, designed by Conoship International, represent a new generation of sustainable diesel-electric dry cargo ships for European coastal trade, with delivery scheduled by 2028.

“This project underlines the growing cooperation between European shipowners and India’s developing shipbuilding sector. Combining advanced vessel design with strong outfitting and engineering competence ensures better living and working conditions for the crew,” added Viorel Banceanu.
